I believe design has the power to simplify the complex and build solutions that genuinely address people’s needs.

About me

Hi, I’m Germaine, an aspiring UX designer with a robust background in healthcare management and research. In my current role in the public health sector, I design patient journeys and drive clinical transformation by analysing user needs and streamlining workflows to enhance systems and improve care delivery. My expertise lies in managing complex projects (a daily exercise in balancing priorities and keeping the peace) and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver holistic care and bring healthcare closer to patients’ homes.

Driven by a desire to contribute to social good, I’m passionate about bridging people, processes, and ideas to create solutions that genuinely improve lives—whether by easing everyday frustrations or making the complex feel a little simpler.

The Catalyst Behind My UX Journey

From complex systems and daily chaos in clinic settings to visually overwhelming electronic health records and unclear patient information leaflets, I’ve seen how poor design can hinder understanding, create frustration, and impact efficiency. In addition, health policies and programme implementers often adopt a top-down approach, which can overlook the actual needs of patients and caregivers.

I’m inspired by product designers who use their craft to drive positive impact and solve real problems. Whether it’s patients seeking care or providers delivering it, I want them to feel supported, not overwhelmed by complicated processes or options. Having witnessed firsthand how poorly designed systems can amplify stress in already demanding situations, I’m driven to create solutions that simplify workflows, ease frustrations, and ultimately make experiences more intuitive and accessible.

Outside of my professional life, I’m committed to continuous learning through platforms like Udemy, Memorisely, and YouTube, constantly honing my UX skills. I also volunteer with Bark Bank, a Better.sg project to build Singapore’s first digital canine blood registry, where I contribute to digital marketing and design.

As someone passionate about animal welfare, I enjoy connecting with fellow dog owners. In my downtime, you’ll often find me exploring Singapore with my Pomeranian, Kumo (who’s convinced he’s the centre of the universe), or unwinding with a good game (because who doesn’t love a little digital escapism?).
